Count me in.

Last year there was a script compo with 1 premise: a man, a woman and a hotelroom.

If we use that I can submit the old one

this is going no where. One guy says "too structured" i say too vague, someone else suggests something else entirely, which one person likes but the rest don't and it goes on for ever...

I seriously propose that it be 5 pages, because it's very hard reading any more than that off a screen.

As for source material, Great War Eagle you come up with 2 charachters a situation and a basic plot line. Then we write it. This script is not supposed to be original or ******* trendy, its just an exercise in telling an old story in a new way. (as i see it anyway)

I've you've done some acting lessons in the past, you might 've gotten some small assignments. (I was like 10-12 years old when I did 'acting')

For example:

You are an old grandmother and are looking out for your grandchildren. They want to go out, but you dont want them.

Really simple. Yet fun. Ideas shouldnt be long or anything. Just a simple conflict or whatsoever.

- a guy goes to a job interview, interviewer turns out to be a vampire
- a guy is dating a 'girl', but doesn't see this 'girl' is a man. His friends do see this 'girl' is a man, but should they help him or not?
- The president of Unamedcounty is paranoid, he believes that the President coming to visit him wants to conquer Unamedcounty
- A girl just found a shotgun in the back of her car. And because she has to go through an alley she has been hassled in before, she decides to take it with her. When she goes through the alley, bums she her shotgun and are all teaming up against her because they think this girl wants to conquer the alley.
- God is so pissed off at the people at earth he decides to come down himself. But when he's on earth he can finally see why everyone's acting like they shouldnt be acting.
- A guy comes home from a weekend spending with friends to find his girlfriend cheating with his dad (ooh conflict )

I don't know. We shouldnt ponder too long on what subject we're going to choose, if we're going to this again in two weeks anayway.

man walks home to find his wife cheating...

thats simple enough, for the sake of actually getting round to starting this sometime soon why dont we agree to do that. If it doesnt work so well we can come up with a better idea next time.

We need positive action.

So,

Start Date: Friday 20th December
Subject: A man awakes in a locked room...
Post scripts by: 27th December (flexible)

If you don't want to, think of something else, and do that instead

Well like I said, if you wanna do somethin else, go ahead. There's 10 of us, so far. Perhaps it's better if the topics are divided up. Maybe 5 do one topic, the other 5 do another. Or 3 sets of writers choose from 3 different topics.

There's too many different personalities from around the world represented among us to agree on one thing I suppose. Some of us are only interested in action, or mystery, drama, sci-fi.

But I think we've all posted enough ideas. Time to choose. I'm sticking with good ol' Henri Latour. Is 10 pages insufficient? I don't know. But there's a million ways to tell his story.

Could be from his point of view. Or his son's point of view. Could take place after his son's arrested, showing the aftermath. Could be the events leading up to the arrest. Or just focusing on the arrest itself.
It doesn't have to dig deep into the actual murder, then the investigation, then the false arrest, then the actual solution.
That's a full length script.

I'm just gonna do a small chunk.

Hey there.

Ok... NOW I am confused.

Why would having freedom ever NOT be a good thing?

You talk about doing a "chunk" are you just going to a scene or a few scenes or are we talking about a self contained story over 10 pages?

I think that "a guy ends up in a locked" idea is perfect for something like this because like you said. We all have different ideas of where to take this thing. An "open" idea like that lets us use our imagination. We just need to end up with a guy locked up in a room.

I also think that in the end we should all agree to "do" the same idea. That was the who idea right? Take an idea and then all do our own take on it.

We should just have a vote. Everyone vote for what they WANT to do from the ideas so far (if you have not come up with an idea yet then tough) Choose and idea and let us know. The most popular idea wins. We start when the last vote is in. We end a week later.

I vote for the guy in a locked room idea.

Despin out.
